Currently, a bottleneck exists between the ACHD, the Commissioners' Office, and developers. My goal is to foster a new culture of cooperation to streamline the approval process. This will allow us to move forward with residential building projects while ensuring we responsibly construct the infrastructure needed to support them.
I plan to prioritize funding for Idaho transit to make it a truly viable and usable option for residents. This will have two major effects. First it will provide economic opportunity. It provides reliable transportation for those seeking to improve their lives and find better job opportunities. Second by providing convenient and reliable bus routes, we reduce the number of individual cars on the road, effectively alleviating traffic congestion for everyone.
While my full plan is extensive, one of my primary focuses is expanding programs like ABC. We need to provide these programs with the resources to process participants efficiently. Currently, individuals are staying in jail for 60-90 says just to complete a 30 day program due to overflow. This wastes taxpayer money and helps no one. My other focus will be on low income housing which costs nearly half as much as incarceration. We can help people get back on their feet rather than tanking their lives at twice the cost to the public.
